VERY URGENT FIX NEEDED

Changing from Guru(LMS) to SP LMS

Just build a site using SP LMS,
Build a course category
Built a Course
Build 21 lessons and these lessons are in the correct order (1 to 21) in the backend
In the front end they show as 21 first (Desending) down to 1
WHICH IS WRONG
I can find no way of making the front end show the lessons in ascending order

WHY?

OK Toufiq, as is normal with your support it takes far to long for you to understand what the issue is and even longer to answer. We are now 12 days since i asked for this to be sorted. I could have finished the site using your competitors LMS (Guru) and still you do not understand what the problem is so i will again go over the problem yet again and ask that you read this at least twice before answering.

I build a course with say, 25 lessons, these lessons show in the backend as 1 to 25 as in the screenshot
I can move the lessons around into any order I like and like you and everyone else I would expect that on the front end lesson 1 in the sorted list (The first one in the list on the screenshot) would be the first lesson shown to the learner (student)

Notice on the screenshot that the first lesson with 1 in the box, titled "What? Why? Who?" is the first lesson.

However lesson 1 in the list shows last on the frontend, so i ask you to understand that the backend looks correct but the front end order does not reflect what is shown in the backend.

You will see from the attached front end screenshot thae "What? Why? Who?" is the last lesson and this is wrong. I or any of my staff cannot find a way to reorder this in options and the reordering options should reflect standard Joomla sort order

I have the same issue with lessons being sorted correctly in the backend but in reverse order on the frontend.

It would be very nice to see solutions to general problems on the forum, and not just a "check pm for solution" :)

I'm with Rumkraft - I have this same issue, and it would be nice if the resolution was publicly posted, so those of us with this same problem could fix it as well. Please advise! Thanks. :)

Hello - thanks for the video, but that doesn't help me personally.

#1 - even when I enlarge to full view, your text is so small, I can't read it;
#2 - you go so fast, I can't tell what you're doing; and
#3 - It LOOKS like what you're doing is what several people have stated they've already done...which is use the drag and drop order method.

As others have stated, I know how to drag and drop. It does not work.

A workaround, just to make it look good on my site: I REVERSED the backend and used drag and drop to put the last course at the top, and the first course at the bottom. So it reads properly to a user viewing the site.

The problem is that when a student goes to take a course...the course will be presented backwards.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks Toufiq, but I wasn't asking for an alternative feature. I was asking for the issue to be resolved, so that it worked properly.

Regardless, I've found the workaround is to REVERSE the order of the Courses in the Admin panel, so now they show up in the proper order on the frontend. I'll just do it like that from now on.

Just posting that workaround so that others who are experiencing the same issue will hopefully be able to utilize the same workaround.

Thank you!

Hey Toufiq. I'm not sure what you're referring to; you might have confused me with someone else or that was an issue in another thread perhaps? I've actually never requested to change the redirect page. Thank you!

Hi, ok, one can influence the sort order by manually dragging and dropping. But where in the database, in which table, is this new sort order being recorded? For example, the table for the lessons, xxx_splms_lessons, this new sort order is not being reflected (despite that there are fields that reference the sort order, such as "asset_id" and "ordering". I am hoping to simply change the table entries to batch sort.

Please advise.

Thanks and regards,

Dan

Hi there, Latest version of LMS added the sorting of Lesson. Thanks

Hi Toufiq, thanks! I have the latest downloadable version 3.4.1. The only sort option is in the options of the menu item. Applying this has no effect on the sort order of the lessons.

What purpose does the table-column "ordering" have in the table xxx_splms_lessons have? (Screenshot attached)

And how does the system remember the manual drag-and-drop ordering? To reorder via drag and drop certainly works. But that is cumbersome when you have dozens of lessons. There is got to be an SQL-entry somewhere ...

Thanks and regards,

Dan

Ok, when I reverse the numbers applied in the column "odering", so e.g. step 1 of 5 gets a 5, and step 5 of five gets a 1, then the sorting works.

It really seems like an odd decision. Lessons unfold in ascending order. Why forcing it to be descending is really odd. Is it perhaps just one simple tweak of the php-file?

Thanks and regards,

Dan

Yes, so where is the manual drag-and-drop change recorded? There is got to be an entry somewhere in the SQL. Then perhaps this can be automated via table uploads.

As said, to manually reorder dozens of entries is laborious. Sure that it does not simply take one "desc" to a "asc" in the php-file?

It is so counterintuitive to force a descending ordering when something is logically ascending (who builds a course starting with the last step?).

Thanks!

Perhaps I should clarify. I am entering my lessons not manually but via a table upload in SQL. That way I can upload entire courses in seconds (as opposed taking hours for adding every single step manually one by one).

Everything works absolutely fine, correct allocation into the different lesson topics, automatically adding text and pictures in the lesson description, having the right instructors etc. Bulk upload = very fast.

But why does the table column "ordering" exclusively work in descending order? When manually dragging an entry to a new position does not change the ordering number in that table. There is got to be a place which is responsible for remembering the manual drag and drop sorting.

I think this question is for the programmers. Perhaps they can point me to the right file which I would then override.

Thanks and regards,

Dan

Hi there, When you have uploaded your courses via SQL method, you should apply the ordering inside the SQL. Thanks

Hi Toufiq, yes, I now did, and it works fine. When there are 20 lessons, I enter a 20 for the #1 lesson into the field "ordering", and a 1 for the twentieth.

I fail to recognize the logic of the field "ordering" though when it only works in reverse order of what anyone would expect. Not worth a look and a reconsideration? It would make life so much easier when managing multiple courses with many lessons.

Thanks and regards,

Dan
