Resolved Shopin Search Results

You will need to install the J2Store search plugin which is free from J2Store, then replace the existing template search module with the J2Store one.

I've done this recently, it works properly for an ecommerce website, and shows the proper product view. There is no way that I know of to get the Joomla search features to properly show the J2Store products - instead it will only ever show the article view results like you see now.

Thanks for your tip, Chris. But this way I totally loose the Search effect that Shopin has. I was thinking that maybe I could change the code from the Joomla Search so that it would show the J2Store search. But I really don't know how, so if some of the developers could help me, that would be very nice.

You probably will do, but I suspect making the Shopin search style fit with the J2Store search plugin would be beyond JoomShaper's support, but shay bairns get nowt I guess

I agree, Joomshaper should probably have used the actual J2Store search feature.

Sorry actually this is not a small issue. It is a big issue.

Im running an ecommerce business and it is extremely important to have a product search function that is effective.

If i use the joomla search function, im garanteed to lose customers.
I'm quite surprised and sad they did not include the search module that has the same effect in the shopin template search.

I hope the can consider doing something. Honestly if its about the $ im sure customers will not mind paying extra.

Is there any way at all, to show the price of the item?
I think I have already got a response that its not possible, but I just want to double confirm before I give up lol.

I have done my own solution... which is to not use the Joomla search button.

1) installed j2store search module - published in a hidden location for all pages.
2) switched off the joomla search module with the magnifying icon next to the menu,
I created my own module, copied the code for the "Magnifying glass" and it's assigned to the menu location. you can also use an image but the icon is better and does not pixelate. I also added a custom class.

3) I bought Engagebox component which allows popups/lightboxes. And I assigned the j2store search module to be activated the moment someone clicks that Magnifying Glass icon with that class.
