Hello,

I have now a website on Helix 3 with the Newskit template. I will ''update'' my actual website with the Newsberg template with Helix Ultimate.

Can I know what the good procedure to make this change is? Because I don't want to lose all of my images in the articles that has been uploaded with the Helix Blog Option.

Is it something possible or I got no other option and lose all of my images from 2017?

Hello AntoBG,
Thank you for your question. You wanted to move from one framework to another. There will be a lot of consequences. For safety, please take a full site backup with Akeeba Backup. Install the backup to your localhost and there install your desired Helix Ultimate template Newsberg. Then make it your default template. You will probably need a lot of customization. Work on your localhost and after you are satisfied, then make it a live site. I hope you understand my words.

- Best regards

Yes I understand. And what is the procedure if I want to keep my images in each article that has been upload with Helix Blog Option ? I can delete my Newskit template but do I have to keep Helix 3 or I can delete Helix 3 also?

You don't really need to delete anything for now. Just change the template. Make Newsberg the default one. Then check your site. Again, I am suggesting to work on localhost; not on live site.

If I may, I will add five cents. It is not enough simply to set Newsberg as the default template. At the same time it is necessary to completely uninstall Newskit templste and all Helix 3 plug-ins. Since Helix 3 and Helix Ultimate not compatible on the same site and cause conflicts and bugs.

Thank you both for your answer. That why i'm asking if the articles will lose all their image when I will uninstall Helix 3 plugin? Since all my images has been all upload with the Helix Blog Option tab in the articles.

Because I allready install Newsberg on a separate website from the scratch and configure everything like I want. Then I now I have to transfer this configuration on the actual website.

Nothig if they are in core Joomla images folder.
If you mean picture added by Helix Page Title option, then you have to upload or connect them again manually.

To connect existing images install Quantum Manager. Then you will be able to select images from the catalog on your website.

If you mean Blog option, then only upload new images.

Thank you for your answer.

OMG that's crazy. We have Helix 3 since 3 years and post about 10 new articles per day. Then all my images will be loosed or need to be connect by Quantum :o

How is it possible that there no compatibly between two framework from the same company?

Because of the difference in bootstrap versions. Bootstrap 3 and Bootstrap 4 are very different and not compatible.

Therefore, in the future - it is better not to use these possibilities of tamplate, but to use the standard Joomla tools and a bit of CSS.

No one can predict how web technologies will develop when you are at the point of product creation. Therefore there is no backwards compatibility.

Don't use anything that makes you dependent on the template. Then you can easily change templates if needed. This is especially true for things like a blog.
