Resolved columns and menus

I have two needs to satisfy a client...

1... I am using left content right format and wish to tint the outside columns on page one only...then to have no tint on all other pages...is this possible?

2...I need the menu strip under the banner to use graphics and not text and have an onclick change of graphic....is this possible?

I need to know if this is possible so I can decide whether this is the right solution for my client's site...
