1. Empire

Hi,

I am using the Empire template for a small onepage website.

Since my menu links lead to sections of the same page, the dot indicating the active item always stays under "home".

How can I adapt that, so the dot indicates the active section and not page ?

Thank you !

Hi,
Not all templates are built to be used as OnePage, that's why menu doesn't react as you wanted.
Sorry, but it cannot be easily improved.

Hello Paul,

I have built a single page website (design stage at the moment) using Helix Ultimate 1.1.2 and SP Page Builder 3.7.0
https://jvtech.es/jalonlocksmith
Each menu item is a SECTION of the single page and links to the anchor; for example #services.
If I click SERVICES on the menu, the page scrolls correctly.
However, the SERVICES item in the menu does not become the active item.

In addition, if I am in mobile mode using the off-canvas menu, when I click SERVICES the page scrolls correctly (in the background) but the menu does not close.

As per the original poster, are these limitations of Helix Ultimate?

Thanks

Steve

I will answer you this way...
it's sort of limitation of HTML/CSS language, how active property is used by default.
Maybe easier for You would be just do not use active color for menu items
OR
Use Navigation addon from SPPB

Thanks for the quick response!
I have inherited the site and it was originally in WordPress (http://www.jalon-locksmith.com/)
As I am not a fan (an understatement!) of WordPress I said that I would recreate the site in Joomla.
It really could do with having the 'active' item status if possible.
I have not used the Navigation add-on for SP PB.
How would I use this? Presumably replace the main menu (in Helix Ultimate) somehow?

Thanks again...

If your website is OnePage only, you don't need Menu from Helix.
Just remove this Menu position from Template Options > Layout

If I remove the menu from Helix, by turning off the header, then I will need to apply recreate the header in SP PB?
Create a 2 column (3,9) row adding the logo in the 3 column and the Navigation add-on in the 9 column?
Then, presumably I will need to add formatting?

Seems rather long-winded for something that should be straight-forward and, in real terms, should work.

Aaargh!!! It seems to get worse...
I have just been looking at 'one-page' templates and see that in both 'oneclip' and 'qubic' the one-page menu works.
The problem is that these are based on Helix 3...

However, if the active item functionality works in Helix 3 but not Helix Ultimate, this suggests that the problem is with Helix Ultimate and NOT a limitation of HTML/CSS language.

Thanks for that.
However my issue is that I am using (I need to use) Helix Ultimate and not Helix 3.
Also the Onepage template has not been updated for over one year and, as Helix 3 will be phased out, I'm sure that there won't be any more updates.
There are newer templates (OneClip) but that too is Helix 3 based.

Paul, I have spent over one man-day trying to find a solution to this issue.
The issue, I believe, cannot just be accredited to CSS/HTML.
Joomshaper have several one page templates on Helix 2 and Helix 3 with active item or current item functionality that work.
However there are no Helix Ultimate templates, which I find strange as one page templates have become quite commonplace.
Other Joomla framework designers have modern one page templates available.
One option, obviously, is to keep the current website as WordPress but that really would be a last resort.
I have a Joomshaper developer subscription and would like to use this for this project.

I really hope that there is something that Joomshaper can do to help...

Thanks,

Steve

So, at last I have found a template that may be the Holy Grail of onepage, SP Page Builder, Helix Ultimate templates...
http://uimarketplace.net/jappmyil/http://uimarketplace.net/jappmyil/
It appears to work well - as far as the menu is concerned.

Menu behaving as I would want and expect!
Now just tweaking the colurs of the menu and changing the colour of teh off canvas burger...
